Don’t forget: Vote at Hoffman Hall
By Correne Martin
Tuesday, Feb. 21, will be the first election in which Prairie du Chien’s entire electorate will cast votes at one location, Hoffman Hall. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the spring primary election. The state superintendent of public instruction is the only race on the ballot.
Voting will take place in the Hoffman Hall gymnasium. When voters walk into the room, there will be one registration desk for all, but then the wards will be broken out into separate stations, according to City Clerk Tina Fuller.
“The wards will be grouped the same as they were at the other polling places,” she stated. “Those (ward residents) who voted at the Armory will still vote together and the same goes for those who formerly voted at city hall and the nursing home.”
In each ward, the process will be the same as it always has been, she assured.
Fuller said she expects voter turnout to be small, which, she said, should aid in the smoothness of this transition to one polling place for the city.
Voters are reminded to bring a form of identification.
For those who have never been to Hoffman Hall, directions are:
•Heading south on Beaumont Road—Take Beaumont all the way south to East Lockwood Street. Turn left and you will see the facility.
•Heading west on the Highway 18 Bypass—After the bypass crosses the railroad tracks, turn right onto Wacouta Avenue. You will drive right up to the facility.
•On Marquette Road—Turn onto West Parrish Street. Follow that to Beaumont Road and turn left. Go two blocks, turn left onto East Lockwood Street and you will see the facility.
