Blackhawk golfers host SWC meet

The Blackhawk boys golf team finished fifth out of six teams on Thursday, shooting a team score of 201 in the first leg of conference play at Prairie du Chien Country Club.  

Leading the way for the squad was Sam Peterson with a 43. Evan Boisvert was next with a 48, followed by Collin Seeley (54), Nate Specht (56) and Jaret Semanko (64).

The Prairie du Chien boys golf team hosted the Prairie du Chien Quadrangular at Prairie du Chien Country Club Tuesday afternoon. 

Fennimore won the meet with a team total of 193. Richland Center had 201, Prairie du Chien 204 and Cuba City 208.

La Crosse Central blanked host Prairie du Chien 10-0 on the Bluff View pitch in nonconference girls soccer Friday afternoon.

The Lady Blackhawks are now 0-1 overall. 

Prairie du Chien will next travel to Galena, Ill. on April 11 for another nonconference match.

Three pitchers team up as Seneca shuts out River Ridge

Seneca defeated River Ridge 10-0 on Tuesday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Payne struck out Connor Mumm to finish off the game.

Seneca grabbed an early lead.  Seneca scored on a single by Nick Payne, a double by Jared Payne, and a double by Andrew Wall in the first inning.


Shamrock Shuffle

Patrick and Alli Klein were the first finisher and the first female finisher at the Fourth Annual Shamrock Shuffle.


More than 50 participate in Shamrock Shuffle

More than 50 people did not let the 15-degree temperature stop them from participating in Saturday morning’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K Fun Run/Walk! 

Almost $300 was raised for the Hoffman Hall Improvement Fund and participants donated more than 90 pounds of food to the local food pantry.

Shullsburg ends Seneca’s season

Top seeded Seneca’s season came to an end Thursday night at Reedsburg Area High School as second seeded Shullsburg won the Division 5 sectional semifinal 68-63 in boys basketball action.

Hillmen end 

Hawks’ season

Fourth seeded Platteville defeated top seeded Prairie du Chien 52-38 in a WIAA Division 3 Regional final to end the Blackhawks’ season Saturday night.

The Hillmen led the Blackhawks 19-13 at the half and then took the second half 33-25 for the win.

Top seeded Seneca beat visiting and fourth-seeded Potosi 68-40 in a WIAA Division 5 Regional final Saturday night. 

Seneca, the top ranked team in Division 5, is now 24-0 on the season and advanced to play second-seeded Shullsburg in Reedsburg on March 9 in the sectional semifinal.

Prairie du Chien gymnast, freshman Kylee O’Kane, competed in the State Gymnastics Meet held in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday. 

O’Kane finished in 22nd place on the uneven bars with a score of 8.133, her highest score ever.

Sixth seeded River Ridge beat visiting and 11th seeded Southwestern 64-53 in a WIAA Division 5 Regional boys basketball game Tuesday night. 

Freshman Cole Crubel poured in a game-high 32 points to pace the Timberwolves.
