Stephen John Meder, 51
Steven John Meder, 51, of Elkader, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his residence.
There was a memorial bonfire at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Steve's home at 902 High Street NE in Elkader.
Steve was born on February 25, 1959, in Guttenberg, the son of John "Jack" and Eileen (Wegmann) Meder. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1977.
On September 5, 2009, Steve was united in marriage to Monica De Shaw. He worked for 17 years in the plumbing and heating business, having just received his Master Plumber Certificate last fall.
Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the challenge of a good competition in gardening.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Monica Meder of Elkader; son, Adam (Andrea) Meder of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Dina (Kris) Galloway of Clearwater, Florida; daughter, Nicole Turner of Elkader; granddaughter, Lexa Meder; grandson Elijah Galloway; two sisters, Sharon (Rick) Wittman of Guttenberg; Sandee Meder of Friendswood, Texas; two brothers, Kevin Meder of Guttenberg; Ken Meder of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
